Brüderle: Ict Project Opens Up Opportunities For The Visually Impaired In Education And Employment

As part of the largest trade fair for the blind and visually impaired aids in Germany, SightCity in Frankfurt / Main, the partners presented by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) funded project Hyperbraille a touch-sensitive display surface. Based on the successful project is announced for the end of 2011, the implementation of the display area into a production-ready product. The development of appropriate user interface has been systematically targeted to specific PC applications, especially from the office area, and verified by extensive user testing on usage and acceptance. A design study was also evidence of ergonomic requirements that are included in the design of the display.

On the technology project launched in 2007 following partners were involved: Metec AG, FH Pape Meier GmbH & Co. KG, IMS-Chips, TU Dresden and the University of Potsdam. With a project budget of approximately € 10 million, the project was proportionately receive around € 5 million from the BMWi.
